Taking a critical look at market and technology development around the enterprise space.

ellementK: (ĕll'ǝ-mǝnt-kā) noun - A fundamental, essential, or irreducible constituent of a composite entity. Middle English, from Old French, from Latin elementum. In this case, also related to the modern French mentir, to lie. (adapted from Dictionary.com)

About Eleanor Kruszewski: I'm known variously as Eleanor or Elle. My last name is like that coach from Duke - kru-shef-ski.

Based in Menlo Park, CA, I work for Yahoo! in their Developer Network. The easiest description of what I do is the MBA shin kicker, handling community, marketing, commercial programs and sundry backend stuff.

Disclaimer: I've done big corps, midcorps, and startups, so I overstate and oversimplify as much as anyone else. These opinions are my own, not my employer's.

Honesty from your Service provider - EDS surprises at Gartner Symposium

EDS Changes Directions, Intends to Show Bias

In an announcement from the Gartner ITxpo, the $20 billion a year computer systems integrator said that it is forming an “agility” alliance that will create a computing platform based on products from: Dell, Cisco Systems, EMC, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and Xerox…

However, fundamentally, it is a departure from EDS’ decades-old stance that it would act as an independent supplier of computing power from any source, not a single or handful of preferred sources.

“We are now naming a bias,'’ said Rasmussen. “But we will accommodate customers” who want to use products or services from a company that is not part of the alliance.

I find this funny because it’s so refreshing to see a service provider stand up and claim that they can more effectively serve their customers if they are allowed to provision from their platform. I take this as a positive sign for the IT Services industry.
